Matt Lawder began running as a freshman at SLUH in 2003 and has been running ever since. After winning a team title in track during his junior year of high school and placing second as a team his senior year of XC (5th overall individual), he headed to Butler University in Indianapolis. At Butler, he won the Newcomer of the Year award his freshman in Cross Country finishing 4th overall at the conference meet. Other highlights including placing second in the 10k as a freshman at conference. After college, Lawder more back to St. Louis and is currently studying at Washington University in St. Louis, working to earn his PhD in Engineering. He has been training for long distances on the roads focusing on the half and full marathon.
