Katie has been sporting the Big River singlet for just about as long as they have been in existence. She began running at Rolla High School after realizing she lacked the coordination for nearly every other sport and then went on to a successful career at Texas Christian University. Katie got suckered into running a marathon shortly after graduating from TCU and got serious about longer distances after joining Big River in 2006 and working with Coach Mike Nelson (another Big River original). Katie is often found running local races of all distances, but is currently focusing on the half marathon and marathon. She is extremely excited to be building her mileage after a freak collarbone break (note the coordination issue mentioned above) and is gunning for a fall marathon.
Beyond racing, Katie is a long time volunteer at Big River Running’s summer speedwork sessions and volunteers her photography skills at several events each year. She is a true fan of the sport and is happy to “talk shop” anytime.
