After strong performances in September and the beginning of October, the Big River Racing Team continued to have a great month.
Jenn Hannigan completed Ironman 70.3 Muncie in 5:01:19, placing 1st in her Age Group and 4th Female. And on October 6, Shelby Hummel completed the Ironman World Championships in Kailua-Kona in 15:59:24.
On October 9, at the Chicago Marathon:
- David O’Gara ran 2:30:19
- Lisa Gorham ran 3:25:06
- Michelle Dillon ran 3:49:08
- Jacqueline McCormick ran a new PR of 3:49:21
On October 15, at the Gumbo Flats Pumpkin Run, Preston Jordan ran 19:07 placing 3rd in his Age Group.
On October 16, Kasey Gonyias ran a new PR of 1:26:39 at the Columbus Half Marathon, placing 2nd in her Age Group and 16th Female. And Sarah Kruger ran the Columbus Marathon in 2:58:33, placing 2nd in her Age Group and 12th Female.
Also on October 16, Sadie Smith completed the Detroit Free Press Marathon in 2:56:57, placing 1st in her Age Group, 3rd Masters Female, and 5th Female.
On October 23, at The Great GO! St. Louis Halloween Race:
- Alex Schenk (19:16) placed 1st Age Group and 7th Overall in the 5k
- Rita Donohoe (23:02) placed 1st Age Group and 7th Female in the 5k
- Denise Buehrer (31:35) placed 2nd Age Group in the 5k
- Euan Makepeace (31:57) won the 10k
- Zach Legenzoff (35:24) won his Age Group and placed 4th Overall in the 10k
- Steve Moore (36:26) won his Age Group and placed 7th Overall in the 10k
- Nick Vollmer (38:13) won his Age Group and placed 10th Overall in the 10k
- John Kertz (48:08) won his Age Group in the 10k
- Elaine Sims (50:22) placed 19th Female in the 10k
- Jeanene Jorgensen completed the 10k in 54:51
- Payton Birkel ran a new PR of 1:23:55 placing 1st Female and 5th Overall in the Half Marathon
- Brian Carter (1:27:20) placed 1st Age Group and 14th Overall in the Half Marathon
- Sadie Smith (1:27:28) placed 2nd Female and 17th Overall in the Half Marathon
- Preston Jordan (1:34:23) placed 33rd Overall in the Half Marathon
- Michael Treadwell ran a new PR of 1:38:47 placing 52nd Overall in the Half Marathon
- Laura Hillard (1:39:47) placed 17th Female in the Half Marathon
- Matt Bridwell ran 1:47:30 in the Half Marathon
- JoAnna Duncan ran 1:55:11 in the Half Marathon
On October 29, Preston Jordan (18:49) won his Age Group and placed 10th Overall in the Hot Cider Hustle 5k.
