Since Big River Running opened its first store in 2006, supporting post-collegiate athletes continue to train and race has been a priority for the company. The Big River Elite racing team was created to help foster a community for the competitive men and women of the St. Louis area to work together to improve their fitness and continue attacking personal bests beyond college graduation. The first incarnation of the team, featured mostly running buddies and rival of Big River’s founders (Matt Helbig and Ben Rosario). But in the last 8 years, as Big River Running grew to four stores, the Elite racing also evolved by growing to include athlete from all across the St. Louis region from those fresh out of college to those still attacking tough course in Masters competitions. The team has grown and seen many successes since its inception on both the local and national level with athletes qualifying for and competing in US national championships and Olympic trails.
This blog will offer greater access to the Elite racing team. We hope to regularly update to site with posts from different athletes offering perspectives on their training and racing. While not everyone can keep pace with the Elite team athlete on a run, all runners can be part of the Elite team experience by connecting with the athletes through this blog. Anyone who has ever laced up a pair of trainers is connected through the shared experience of running and we hope that this blog enhances that connection. Check back regularly for updates from some of the fastest residents of the St. Louis region!
