The last month-and-a-half has featured a number of in-person races as well as some quality time trial performances from Big River Racing Team members.
On October 3rd, James Campbell (1:09:45) and Nicholas Loyal (1:12:25) both raced well at the Flint Ridge 10-mile trail race, finishing 9th and 11th overall and 2nd and 3rd in their age group. That same weekend, Sarah Kruger ran a Half Marathon time trial in 1:20:40.
Two weeks later, Caroline Rupp (1:36:30) won her age group at the GO! St. Louis Halloween Half Marathon. That weekend, Mike Flynn ran the Saturday version of the GO! Halloween Race (1:54:13) and then drove to Omaha, NE, where he ran a new 50K PR (5:57:31) at the G.O.A.T.z. Trail 50K on Sunday.
The following weekend, 10/24, Matt Kruger ran a 15k time trial in 48:13, setting a new PR by 55 seconds.
To celebrate Halloween, Peter Johnsrud, Matt Kruger, and Kirby Simon ran a WashU Cross Country/Track & Field Spooky Season 5k. Peter ran 14:56, Matt ran 15:11 (new Road 5K PR), and Kirby ran 15:15.
On 11/1, Bill Thompson ran the Bass Pro Cohick Half Marathon, won his age group, and set a new PR in 1:37:45.
The team had a strong showing at the Innsbrook Half Marathon on 11/7. Michelle Dillon (1:57:01) won her age group, Steve Moore (1:22:14) placed second in his age group, and Nate Quest (1:22:49) and JoAnna Duncan (2:04:13) placed third in their age groups.
On Saturday, 11/14, Matt Kruger ran a 10k time trial, setting a new PR in 31:17. The next day, he paced Sarah Kruger for her 50k time trial in 3:38:26. The Krugers’ 2020 venture into trail and ultra running has yielded some impressive performances!
That same weekend, Brendan Davis and Mike Flynn completed the Tunnel Hill 50 Mile in southern Illinois.
It’s been a challenging year, but many team members have still found ways to improve their fitness, run new PRs, or tackle new challenges and accomplish goals.
