The Fourth of July is one of the most popular race days of the year. With so many local races around the area, the Big River Racing team covered a lot of ground over the Fourth of July. Across the Missouri river in O’Fallon, MO, team members Julie Lossos and Megan Killian ran in the Firecracker 5k finishing in TR Hughes BallPark (Home of the River City Rascals) with 2nd (18:36) and 4th (20:06) place finishes, respectively. They also had a 10k race, which Heidi Schmidt placed 2nd in finishing with a 39:06. (Full Results)
At Fair St. Louis in Forest Park, Matt O’Connor ran away with a victory in the Freedom 4 miler (19:28) and Tom Albes made a solid return to the roads with a fourth place finish in 21:39. Across the Mississippi River in Illinois, Matt Lawder captured his eighth win at the Litchfield, IL Freedom Fun Run/Walk 5k with a 16:05 besting second place by just over four minutes.
